Looking for some suggestions.
We have business groups around the country, all with their own logo. When a user selects a specific market, I would like the proper logo to appear. If a user selects more than one market, I would like to use a generic image.
I would appreciate any insight that would allow me to create or modify the dataset so that these behaviors are implemented within the dashboards.
@Anonymous
For your requirement, you create a table with market name and logo image URL columns. Then you can make the multiple row cards to display logo based on slicer selection. But it's not possible to display a "general" image when selecting more than one entry.
Regards,
What if the image I want to display is a screenshot form my PC, and does not have a URL? How can I link this to the filter?
I'm trying to do the same thing, but the image is still not showing. It is giving me only the text of the URL rather than the actual preview of the image. Can you please explain more how you made the actual image to display?
@Anonymous
Hope that helps!
Thanks for your reply. I just did exactly that and then now it is showing a small icon but not the actual image. I have one of the images is within a library in a sharepoint list and the other is actually a public facing image just to make sure that it is not an authentication or access issue. But still both are showing the same.
The first image is how it is displayed on BI services. and the second one is on BI Desktop.
I saved and restarted BI, but stil showing the same.
I noticed that your image URLs, unlike mine, are "https". It certainly could be a security issue on your side and that a proper handoff between the systems is not occurring. With the steps that I outlined, the dashboard "now understands" it's meant to be an image - but it is not persisting.
Hopefully, someone else from the community can offer a suggestion.
Thanks! I actually see on your images that 2 of them are https and only one is http, and both are still been handled alright... I'll keep digging and trying different locations .. Please let me know if you came across something,
PS: PBI is new to me and i'm pressed in time to get a whole bunch of stuff done... You probably will see a lot of questions from me in this community for the next little while. 🙂

One more thing...
Download the following file from Dropbox. It is an image viewer that was available for download through PBI
Once downloaded, Import it in PBI using Import a custom visual.
Then change the visualization type to "IMG" which will appear once imported.
You can DM me in the community, and we can connect via phone. Been there before - happy to help.
I've actually got one with http and another https.. both are behaving the same..

Thanks again for your response.. I highly Appreciate the offer to connect and help... 🙂 I'm sure I will be bugging you a lot... wait for it.. 😄
well, I'm getting the same thing... 😞 a small icon of a broken image...sigh...
Waittt... it works now, I figured what the issue was... horray 😄
The problem was the field type on my sharepoint list.. the orginal field type that I was pulling the data from was an "Image/Hyperlink" field type. I changed that into a single line of text and now it works and referenced it into both visual types, the multi line and the custom image visual and both are working now.....
Yaay!!
Thanks for all your help! 🙂
oh no, I think i spoke too soon.
The http one only worked...
The https is still showing broken image...
Update: I found out that https images do not work when openning the PowerBI services in Chrome. But it worked perfectly on IE. Part of the mystery solved.
Glad you got it. Offer still stands, lmk if I can help.
Thanks for the feedback. Can you add some detail around making a multiple row card?
In my desired application a user would select the Market, and I would display the logo.
Thanks for the feedback.
I have a number of dashboards where users select the city (in a slicer) where they are place geographically.
I would like to brand the dashboards that when a city is selected, the proper logo is displayed. In the event that more than one city is selected, I would like to display a generic logo.
