Dynamic Filters

I'd like to apply a filter to a visual where it only shows, for example, the top 25% of the data field in Legend. 

So a simple example would be a Waste Kg vs Time chart, where the Legend is Reason for Waste. 

We have a huge number of waste reasons, however only a small % make up 80% of the total waste. 

Is it possible to apply this kind of filter? Or is there another way of doing it?

What would be great is if some of the tutorials could be for anything other than Sales, e.g. manufacturing.
