Dynamic Filtering on Dashboards
Hi All,
We have a requirement where we want to filter the datasource of the dashboard based on the Region of the end user. FOr example if a user in the US opens up the dashboard then the datasource(SQL view) should be filtered with condition where Country="US" and if the user from UK opens the dashboard then the filter should change accordingly. We have the country as one of the available columns as well in our DB.
We tried using RLS but that involves assigning each user of the region to the corresponding role which would be very tideous in large number of end users.
1. Is it possible to assign RLS role to a office 365 group which includes all the end users.
2. Any other inputs would be of great help.

Hi,
This sounds like you have tried static RLS but there is also a dynamic variant that should help you in this scenario. There are plenty of detailed articles or videos on the web when you search for this term so you should easily find it, ie.

Thanks a lot for your response. Dynamic RLS still requires to map everyone one in the organization to the single role that will be created using the Power BI security feature. Please advise if understanding is correct.
Also is it possible to create a office 365 group with all users like [email protected] and assign this group the role so as to avoid individual role assignment?
