Hi,
During refresh, getting this error:
Failed to save modifications to the server. Error returned: 'A Variation object 'Variation' in Column 'Date' refers to hierarchy 'Date Hierarchy' which has been deleted. '.
Earlier, it was working fine. Visuals are displayed properly. Don't know what caused this error.
In the dashboard, I am using three datasets. Because of this error, not able to refresh those dataset values too. How to change the sequence of refresh order. How to refresh those datasets first before the tables used in this dashboard so that those errors won't affect this refresh.
Appreciate if someone could help resolve this issue.
Thanks in advance.
I encountered this error during "Refresh" when my PBIX file was using DirectQuery to source data from a (different/related) model on the server.
To fix the issue, I:
My understanding of the issue is that one of the datatypes had possibly changed on the server, and the PBIX file needed to "reconsider" how to import this data.
Hopefully this solves the issue for others (as certainly took me a while to ringfence it).
Good luck!
Actually, two versions of Power Bi was installed in my laptop. I had this problem when the power bi report was opened in a different version of power bi desktop. It worked fine when I opened with the correct version on power bi desktop. Thanks
Hi @Prima_ ,
Please check your Power BI data model to ensure that the 'Date Hierarchy' referred to by the Variation object still exists. If it has been deleted, you may need to recreate it or update the Variation object to refer to the correct hierarchy.
Regarding changing the sequence of dataset refreshes, Power BI does not natively support specifying the order of dataset refreshes. However, you can manually refresh datasets in the desired order using the Power BI Service. Go to each dataset's settings and use the "Refresh Now" option to control the sequence.
Best Regards,
Neeko Tang
