Downloading pbix file from Power Bi online app

Hi All,

Big issue here that maybe I can get some help with the community.

I published my reports from Power Bi Desktop and for some reason that I cannot explain, I couldn't open my reports yesterday 19/09/24 as it was showing me the pop up to submit the issue over.

So, as I had already published the report, I could go online and download the file and open again on my Power BI Desktop.

I have done that before with another report and it was working fine.

For this particular one, I just had one option when downloading the file. See below:

The issue here is that I can't see my queries anymore and I can't find anywhere how to do it.

Any help will be great.

Kind regards,

Fernando

Hi @fernandosilvauk

Sorry for the late reply.

Given I have so little information at this time, I can't tell what's causing your problem. You can create a support ticket for free and a dedicated Microsoft engineer will come to solve the problem for you.

It would be great if you continue to share in this issue to help others with similar problems after you know the root cause or solution.

Hi @fernandosilvauk

Where is the data coming from?

  1. Semantic model
  2. Report hosted in My Workspace
  3. report using Incremental refresh

If so none of these are supported.

There are a bunch of other exceptions like being part of an unpublished app.

Check out here for the full list under Limitations:

Hi  @SamWiseOwl ,

The data is coming from SQL server.

Cheers,

Hi @fernandosilvauk

Just as SamWiseOwl said, you can check the limitations of downloading pbix file and make sure your report doesn't have any of these conditions:

Hi @v-zhengdxu-msft ,

Thank you for your feedback.

I'm an Admin on the Power Tools and have all the credentials necessary to do the job I need ont he tools.

Also, till a few weeks ago, i was able to change the query I used to get my data from the SQL server and suddenly I can't change the query anymore as the tools crashed and doens't allowed me to do it anymore.

That is very strange and I believe I'm not the only one with the issue.

My data from the query was imported and I could see all the data points on the tool. Now, I can't see anything.

My report is 2mb in file weight and I have to change the query once in a while, so not sure what happened here, but definitely is not a normal procedure fromt he tool.

Cheers,

Fernando
