Download reports as excel files from huge datasets

Hello Everyone,

I have multiple datasets in my database. I want to enable my business users to download the results of some stored Procedures through PowerBI once they select some filters and the report is updated as they wish. I was thinking of doing the following:

• Use a Stored Procedure to bring the whole dataset into PowerBI as a PBI Dataset
• Connect the Reports to these datasets
• Create filters inside the reports that use these datasets as source
• make the main visuals and tables in the report to use data from the dataset

The stored procedure could be updated daily using incremental refresh (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-KXDpi_wyD4&t=29s), so all data would be on the server and easily available.

Is there any recommendation about doing this? What other way could I achieve this?

Hi @julsr ,

The idea of using stored procedures to bring data sets into Power BI makes sense.

To get started, the following prerequisites must be met:

A tenant account with an active subscription. Create an account for free.

A workspace is created.

Before publishing to a Power BI service, ensure that the incremental refresh policy is properly configured in Power BI Desktop.
