Does refresh frequency differs for different Data sources used?

Hi Team,

Greetings of the day!!

Does refresh frequency differs for different Data sources used in Power BI. By this I mean, if suppose I am connecting to a HIVE datasource using an ODBC connector will that provide me different refresh cycles instead of 8 times/day in Pro licence.

Any help is highly appreciated.

Hi @Ani1991 ,

For data refresh in Power BI, you can refer to this article.

1. For on-premises data sources, 

    If you choose 'import', 8 times schedule per day for pro license. If you choose 'DirectQuery' or 'LiveConnect', data refreshes when you open the report or interact with the report.

2. For cloud data sources,

    Just for data sources in OneDrive for Business Online and SharePoint Online, data refreshes hourly.

Unfortunatly not 

the maximum refresh frequancy for a pro license is 8 times per day 

the premium license allows for upto 48 times per day 

Alternative is to have a direct query which is able to refresh everytime you open the report or click the refresh button with in the report but these have limited functionality and can make your model very slow
