Dataset refresh frequency

Does the development team plan on expanding refresh frequency for datasets?

We are using power BI quite heavily and some reports are fed with live data so they require a more frequent refresh. Every 15 minutes or so. Is that something that will be added in the future?

  • Anonymous If you have Premium you can do that. I am assuming you have Pro? Not sure about PPU.

Anonymous You'll have to see if you can schedule more than, I think 8 refreshes with PPU.

Greg_Deckler is it only available to PPC users? I just started a Premium free trial feature and still not getting any options other than daily/weekly

    Hi Anonymous ,

If the report is using Direct Query mode or live connection, we can configure refresh frequency in schedule cache refresh. It can refresh more than 8 times.

There is a direct connection between Power BI and the database. When you interact with a visualization, queries are sent from Power BI directly to the database. To enhance performance, dashboards tiles are cached and periodically refreshed. Change the frequency there. (You can always manually refresh a tile any time by using the option on the More menu of the tile.)

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/connect-data/refresh-data#datasets-in-directqueryliveconne...

For scheduled refresh (datasets with import mode), we can only refresh 8 time daily(pro license).

    Best Regards,
    Liang
