Do I have to go into the original PBI desktop file to add data to a report?

I'm currently working on integrating more data into a already published report that I didn't report and currently don't have access to. My question is, in order to add this data, (or is the proper term queries?) do I need to ask my boss to allow me to go into the original PowerBI desktop file in order to add in this data and then republish the report? I'm not just trying to transform the report, I'm trying to add in REST api data along with making adding in a static table as well. Thanks.

Hi @AfonsoT

The short answer is Yes.
You need to have the Power BI Desktop version of that report, add a new table/data then set all relationship. After that you can use the new data in your report and at the end publish that to the service/.
