I am trying to create a simple table with a sql query but when i put the select statement in and run (with direct query option selected), i get an error saying "This step results in a query that is not supported in DirectQueryMode". I havent made any changes to the query and/or added any steps other than the upload.
Any ideas?

Hi @thampton,
Based on my research, there do some limitations with direct query, you could refer to below link:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/desktop-use-directquery#limitations-of-directquery
And could you please check if your sql statement too complicated?
