Direct Query - Page Refresh - Cannot Load Model Schema

I have a pro licence, I am loading the data from Data virtualization tool as a Direct Query and refreshing the page every 5 seconds. I don't see any error on the desktop. The refresh is working fine and I see the following error only when I open the report on Web after publishing it to my workspace. Can anyone please help me in resolving this issue.

I had the same problem and the same error message. The gateway settings was on place, data loaded in .pbix file and so on.

After some hours frustration, I found at the page "Manage gateways" (in Power BI webapp), in my "Data Source Settings" that I had marked "Skip test connection". So I changed that and pressed apply.

That made the top message change from "Connection Successful" to "Unable to connect".

My conclusion was that Power BI services might therefore not be able to reach the database. So I updated the database credentials (which by some reason had expired), and then it worked.

Hi, @Anonymous

Here are something to confirm.

1. Is your data source on premise or in cloud?

2. Which kind of gateway are you using? Personal gateway or enterprice gateway?

3. Is the gateway working correctly?

You may click 'Test all connections' to check the gateway's status and pay attention to the data source definition and data source credentials. Data refresh can also fail due to expired cached credentials. Clear your internet browser cache by going signing into Power BI and going to https://app.powerbi.com?alwaysPromptForContentProviderCreds=true. This forces an update of your credentials.

Best Regards

Allan

@v-alq-msft

1) The Data is in SQL Server and is fetched through an API that is hosted by a Data Virtualization tool.

2) I am using enterprise Gateway

3) I did the Test Gateway Connection, I didn't see any error but when I checked on the dataset, the gateway setting just keeps loading and never shows up, have attached the screenshot for your reference.
