Hi,
Very basic question I'm afraid.
It looks like I have two different versions of PBI on my windows 11 laptop, with different icons showing in the windows toolbar:
They are both Version: 2.131.1203.0 64-bit (July 2024)
Could somebody tell me the difference between the two please? If they are the same, why the different icons?
Currently both are open with different PBI files, not sure why or how one file will open with one version and another opens with the other?
There, I said it was a very basic question.
Thanks in advance!

Hi @Fusilier - If you installed Power BI Desktop from the Microsoft Store, it will have an icon that looks slightly different from the standalone installer version. This is due to how the Microsoft Store apps are packaged and managed
manual:
Download Microsoft Power BI Desktop from Official Microsoft Download Center
From Microsoft store:
There’s no need to worry about having different icons. It’s just a visual quirk depending on how the applications were installed. You can keep both versions if they serve different purposes, or streamline your setup by removing one of them.
Hope it helps.

You don't really want to have both versions installed (remember they each take up 2.5 GB of disk space). If you are ok with automatic updates keep the store version, otherwise keep the standalone version.
