I have a report with a graph of performance over time sorted oldest to newest date which is exactly as required. On the same report I have a matrix showing some of the detail from the report and the dates in the columns, I would like this matrix to be sorted with the date columns in reverse order so the newest dates show in the first columns. My dates come from a date dimension.
There is no way to change the column sort in the matrix visual so I am stuck on how to fix this.
Thanks in advance
Hi @PaulWeaver,
Column sort in Matrix visual is not supported in Power BI currently, please vote this idea here which has been submitted in Power BI ideas forum.
For the workaround, you could try to add a custom column in Power Query, then sort by this column. You could refer to the steps below.
1. Edit Queries—— Add Column——Duplicate Column——Change the column type to whole number
2. Add a Custom column —— Close & Apply
3. Sort saledate by Custom
4. You will get your expected matrix visual like below.
