Determining availability based on existing appointments

Hello,

I have records here with a datetime stamp. For example lets say its 8:15AM. I have no end date but i have a field with an expected duration for an appointment.

However I can use the expected duration to add to the startTime to calculate an "endtime"

Am i able to read in  a list of the weeks appointments for each user. Then display availability based on timeslots already taken. So if nothing is booked for 2pm. To have that displayed in some format?

Example: looking at a time range of 8am to 10am for user X

Appointments

8am

830am

930am

10am

Based on when appointments are scheduled above i can determine that 9am has no scheduled appointments.

The usecase is a bit simple but this would change if using the end date based on the expected duration. being appts could say be 15 minutes, or a half hour.

.

there can also be an overlap where multiple records are schedule for the same start time.

as a little side note. certain days have a later start date. so say monday/wednesday/friday is your normal 8-5 work day. while tuesday/thursday starts/ends a few hours later. If this level of detail isnt doable on a day by day basis thats fine. figured i would mention it.

I am using the BI certified MAQ software calendar visual

Thanks!

Hi @Red_prov ,

The information you have provided is not making the problem clear to me. Can you please explain with an example and test data?

Looking forward to your reply.

Best Regards,
Henry

Hi @v-henryk-mstf ,

I have the information related to who the appointment is assigned to, the start time, and expected duration.

So for example say 12/8/2022 Thursday a user may have 5-10 appointments scheduled throughout the day between 8am and 8pm. They can range from 10 to 100 minutes based on the type of appointment.

Looking at the start and expected end time for a persons appointments for the day. I want to calculate timeslots where they are free. So say a user has appointments scheduled from 8am-12 noon, i want to determine 12-1pm is an open slot say to take lunch.

but i was wondering if i could use power BI to determine the off hours or unused time in the day .
