To start I'll once again say I'm new to Power BI. Looking to see how other people may have dealt with this situation.
I have a chart showing overtime hours per employee. The problem is that there are multiple employees with the same name. Every employee has a unique ID (like a SSN but not). If I ran the chart off the ID, then I'd get a bar for each ID, but showing IDs on the axis isn't very user friendly. Names would be better. But if I use names, then people get grouped together because of having the same name.
What I wish I could do is run the chart off the ID but display the name associated with that ID instead of the actual ID.
Hoping this makes sense and someone has a good idea.
Thank you,
Kirt
Did you got solution for this ?
if yes, then can you help me as I have the same situation.
We're just showing names followed by employee ID such as "Smith, Joe - 12345". I couldn't come up with any other way to do it.
HI @Kirt1965,
I'd like to suggest you use multiple fields(username, Lastname, or user name, unique id) on your chart axis.
These records who has similar username will be aggregated when the chart axis is on the top level. You can drill to next axis level to break this wrong aggregated and expand records with current hierarchy level username, unique keys.
If these not help, can you please share some dummy data to test?

Thank you for the reply. Yes, we can do this. The cause of the problem mostly is that upper managerment just wants to see LastName, FirstInitialMiddleInitial and that results in duplicated names. The driver for showing names in that format is they want to save space for the actual charts. Adding the number on the end makes it as long as if we just kept the full name. I was hoping there was some clever way to use the ID for the axis but display an associated value (the name) instead.
