Hello,
I'm fairly new to DAX and need some assistance to determine which join code I should use to merge 2 tables. Please can I ask for your help?
I have an Employees table, containing around 280 employees, which has a column "Job Role"
I have a Procedures table, which contains around 300 training courses. It contains a column "JobRole".
Tables are unrelated.
For example:
Table_Employees
Table Procedures
Desired End result
Please can you advise me of the DAX code I need to create a third table with the above desired result so that it lists all the procedure courses that each employee needs to take.
Many thanks in advance.
Hi @AliPoTD
Download example PBIX file with the example shown below.
You just need to create a relationship between the tables and then you can create a table visual showing the data you want. You don't need to create another table in your file that will just be duplicating data you already have stored in there.
You also don't need to include both the Job Title and Job Role columns as they are the same thing.

Phil

Hi Phil,
Many thanks for your quick response.
You're right, I don't need an addoitional column of Job Role, didn't mean to add that when putting together the dummy data, there should be just one merged Job Title column.
Ok, so if i were to merge the tables, I would have a many to many, as there are many employees with the same job role, and many procedures for the same job role. I was led to believe I should avoid many-to-many relationships, or is this not the case?
