I have a year worth of data (Jan 2021 to Dec 2021) and in a pbix file. In the date slicer is set to between dates. The proper max and min are shown. However a user was able to set the search criteria before 2021. It showed blanks but my question is that why was the slicer able to select dates outside the date range in the file. Also, is there solution to just show date range slicer show selection for 2021 and not any other dates.
As shown in the picture below there is selection for year other than 2021. I just want it to show only 2021 selection.
Hi @rschaudhr
A couple of questions:
1. Do you use a Date table?
2. How did you create the Date table?
3. What Date fields did you add to your Date slicer (i.e. which table is the Date field from)?
4. Does you Date field have any blank records?
Also, if you can click on the Date slicer visual, go into the visual's Filter pane and just click on the Date filter to see if you have "blank" written there? If so, untick it. Also, this should also allow you to filter down to the periods you want to show in your slicer.
Cheers mate,
Theo

Hi Theo,
Thank you for your message.
To answer your questions.
I did not create a date table.
I just used a date field in the file in the date slicer.
No, the date field does not have any blanks.
I hope answered your questions.
Thanks again
