Date Hierarchies in a Power BI dataset

Hi there, I am using a Power BI Dataset to build a new report (first time).

One of the fields I am trying to use is a date field, what I'm used to is date fields automatically being rolled up into a heirarchy but this doesn't appear to happen. When I try to use the date field it just uses every single date and puts it on the axis of the visual.

How can I create a heirarchy from this or at least create a visual where I can drilldown from year to qtr to month?

@jacobsutcliffe

Unfortunately, custom hierarchy is not available in Live Connection Mode(power bi dataset). And no built-in date hierarchy when you use Direct Query mode. You need to connect to the original datasource directly with import mode.

@jacobsutcliffe , there is setting to enable date hierarchy

In Options and Setting -> Option - > Auto date/time

But in case it is disabled in the dataset file, I doubt you can add in file using that
