Date Format in Data View differs from Report View
Date Format in Data View differs from Report View.
In Date View the format is DD/MM/YYYY; while all reports that are created are MM/DD/YYYY.
Tried changing both the global / file settings but nothing seems to change after restart.

Hi Florimond,
If your dates look correct in the Data View (DD/MM/YYYY) but flip to the US format (MM/DD/YYYY) in Report View or the Power BI Service, you are likely dealing with a conflict between "Regional Settings" and "Explicit Formatting."
The best way I would say to fix this is to hard-code the format for the column -
-
Select the Date Column in your field list.
-
In the Column Tools ribbon at the top, look for the Format section.
-
Do not just select "Short Date." Instead, click the dropdown and manually select or type:
dd/MM/yyyy.
If the report looks correct in Desktop but wrong in the browser, the user's browser language is likely set to English (United States).
-
Go to the Power BI Service > Settings (Gear Icon) > General > Language.
-
Ensure it is set to "Defined by browser" and verify that the browser has the correct language at the top of the list.
Let me know if this helps! -

Hi Florimond ,
- If the data comes from Power Query
Sometimes the issue originates there. Make sure that:
- The column is set to Date type, not Text
- You avoid automatic “Changed Type (Locale)” steps that may cause mismatches
- Check the column data type and format
In Model view:
- Select the date column
- Confirm Data type = Date (not Text)
- Set the format explicitly (e.g. dd/MM/yyyy)
- Check model culture (very important)
Go to:
File → Options and settings → Options → Regional settings
- Set the Model language / locale to your required format (e.g. English (UK))
- Then refresh the model
Please mark this as solved if it resolves your issue.
