I had uploaded a db into power bi dekstop . Now i am using power bi web ui but the dataset/db isnt showing? what to do?
i had simply added data in power bi dekstop by clicking get data - selected pgadmin/postgres/snowflake

In fact, power bi desktop and service are working for different usages. (desktop are reporting design tool, service is used to share created reports)

It did not auto sync the client reports to the service side. You need to publish the desktop reports to the power bi service side first and configure the corresponding dataset and credentials to enable refresh.

After these steps, these published report contents will be refreshed based on your configurations.

i am loading the .pbix file into power bi service. is it same as publish?

Yes, the uploaded pbix file will also be analyzed by power bi service and split based on different parts of models.

I had uploaded database e.g dummy_db on power bi desktop.
Now when i use power bi web ui, it doesnt show the tables/database. not in dataset and not in datahub
@nfs03 , Republish the file-> Clear Browser cache and refresh and check. Hope you are in import mode.
In the case of direct query mode. Got to dataset settings and check credentials have no issues

And how are trying to locate it over web?
ive only loaded the .pbix file which has dataset
