Databricks Error (SSL Certificate) With Refresh
Hi all,
I'm trying to connect to our databricks server using the following code:
Databricks.Query("adb-XXXX51515437742.2.azuredatabricks.net", "sql/protocolv1/o/XXXX051515437742/1210-163745-19j9k0vp", [Catalog="hive_metastore", Database=null, EnableAutomaticProxyDiscovery=null, ConnectionTimeout=180])
And then receiving this error constantly when trying to load the data into Power BI:
ODBC: ERROR [08S01] [Microsoft][Hardy] (115) Connection failed with error: SSL_read: error code: 0
This makes ZERO sense because my account information is correct, I've recently downloaded the certificates and I am connected to my company's VPN correctly to access the server. When I apply transformations in Power Query, I'm able to see the data, but it will not load into the design view (failing after about a minute). Why is this happening?
Hi garynorcrossmmc
Thank you for being part of the Microsoft Fabric Community. Please do check the below points that might resolve your issue.
-
Make sure SSL is enabled in the ODBC driver settings.
-
Check that the certificate used by Databricks is from a trusted Certificate Authority (CA).
-
If you're using a VPN or proxy, verify it isn’t intercepting or altering SSL traffic.
-
Ensure the Databricks cluster you're connecting to is running and reachable.
-
Use the latest version of Power BI Desktop—older builds can have SSL compatibility issues.
- In your microsoft.sparkodbc.ini file, enable detailed error logging:
[Driver]
AllowDetailedSSLErrorMessages=1
EnableCurlDebugLogging=1 - Review the latest official guidance here: Power BI with Azure Databricks
If the above information is helpful, please give us Kudos and mark the response as Accepted as solution.
