Data Model Helper Table

In my model I am trying to create a helper table "Service Category" where I store various service names and map them to a category for filtering. The dimservice and dimproduct tables both contain names that should be mapped to the helper table. But I cant seem to get the relationship correct that would allow me to get service categories from the dimproduct side. Any help woud be greatly appreciated.

Hi @Anonymous ,

According to your description, you are trying to create a many-to-many relationship between the dimservice and dimproduct tables through the Service Category helper table. In order to do this, you will need to create a bridge table that connects the two tables.

The bridge table should contain foreign keys to both the dimservice and dimproduct tables, as well as a foreign key to the Service Category helper table. This will allow you to map each service and product to one or more categories. Once you have created the bridge table, you can create a relationship between the dimproduct table and the Service Category helper table through the bridge table. This will allow you to filter products by category.

If you are still having trouble getting the relationship to work, you may want to check that your foreign keys are set up correctly and that your queries are referencing the correct tables and columns.

Shouldn't the service category be an attribute of the dimService dimension?
