Data Model Correct Filtering

I have a table that looks like this: 

country	year	month	product	Ended_model	total Ended	New Model	Total New
UK	2023	11	xx	Fiesta	5	Puma	3
NL	2023	10	vv	CHR	10	RAV4	4
DE	2023	9	ww	Aygo	25	Yaris	6

That shows in which country how many contracts with specific model is ended and and how many following new contracts with spefic model is started. For istance, the 5 contracts with model Ford Fiesta was ended and 3 of those contracts started newly with a Puma. Or 10 CHR contracts were ended and out of those ten, four was renewed to RAV4.    

How can I created a data model, that can filter only Ended_Model or only New_Model, like from a specific ended model to any new model. Or, from any ended model, to a specific New Model. 

I created this data model: 

But, when I filter Ended_Model, New Model is also changing. 
What am I doing wrong?

The other dimension is being filtered because of Power BI's automatic filter propagation through relationships. When you apply a filter to FromModel, it propagates to the RenewedTo fact table. Since RenewedTo is also connected to ToModel, the filtering effect continues, indirectly affecting ToModel. This creates a cross-filtering effect where filtering one dimension table unintentionally impacts the other. This is expected behavior in Power BI, as filters naturally flow through relationships unless modified using relationship settings or DAX measures.

You're running into Power BI’s default filter propagation behavior. Since both FromModel and ToModel are connected to the RenewedTo fact table, applying a filter to one (e.g., Ended_Model) flows through the fact table and indirectly affects the other (e.g., New_Model). 

• To break this automatic cross-filtering, you can modify the data model to include an inactive relationship and then selectively enable it within your DAX measures: 

1. In Model View, locate the relationship between ToModel and the fact table (RenewedTo). 
2. Double-click the relationship line and uncheck “Make this relationship active”. 
3. Now, New_Model will no longer be filtered automatically when you select an Ended_Model.

your data model looks correct. Have you maybe changed the arrows after taking the screenshot?

I assume you are aware of the "Show Items With No Data" topic.

It's a one-to-many fact and dimension relationship. Changing the arrows is not making sense.
