I've noticed that as I start to import more data into Power BI, that I'll have an entire column from a SQL Direct Query be transformed into a Measure when shown in Power BI. I'm using the most current Desktop Version 2.116.966.0 64-bit (April 2023).
This only happens in a column that contains integers, decimals, or whole numbers. When checking the Power Query Editor, the column is shown as normal with all of the proper values. However, it will show as a measure as a sum of all the values. I've changed the summarization to don't summarize, but that still doesn't return the original values.
Check out the May 2026 Power BI update to learn about new features.
