DAX Measures Library for my 5 reports.

Hi PBI community,

I am seeking ideas and wisdom on the theory of creating a central (blank) report with all my grouped DAX measures "DAX library" and publish to gain the measures as a dataset.

I would like to link this DAX library to my 5 reports and utilise the appropiate group of measures. For example "PBI Cars" report would have "Cars" measures loaded, "PBI Motorbikes" would have "Motorbike" measure loaded etc and so on with the rest of the 5 reports.

This DAX library should contain a cental date/calendar table that should be the same in all of the 5 reports so that DAX measures in the library are compatible?

The purpose of this DAX library with its own group of measures is so whenever a measure needs refining, it can be done and published and the 5 reports will refresh with the updated measure. This could also include creating new measures.

Is there anyone who had a similar challenge. Your thoughts and ideas and samples would be much appreciate.

Thank you matrix_user

Familiarize yourself with Quick Measures and DAXPatterns.com

You will find that there are very few measures that you can re-use.  Most business problems need their own, custom designed measures.

Don't waste your time.  Use an external calendar table that has all your business logic already implemented.  Doing  this in DAX may be exciting and a nice exercise, but you will find it to be useless, eventually.
