DAX Measure Help

Hello- First time poster. I am a new Power BI user and need to figure out this dashboard to impress my boss, so they will pay for my certification training.

I am working on a website content dashboard that links our articles with authors. The issue is when I pull article information from the CMS, the authors for an article are all in one cell seperated by a "|" . I created a bridge table that seperates all the authors and the article into their own row, but I need to be able to filter in both directions with this bridge table. See the image below (the bridge table is "Keycontactsexploded").

The only thing that has worked so far is duplicating the events (data) table, but that's also 13 million rows of data. It is making the dashboard way too slow to have 26 million rows of data to parse through.

These are the measures I need help on:

1. Showing all Cleaned article titles and their views, while being able to use my slicers (Attorney services,industries, offices, and practice (in cleanedBios))

2. Total count of article visits

Any advice is appreciated!

Hi @elliedrake99,

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Fabric Forum Community.

Simulate Bi-Directional Filtering: Use TREATAS to apply filters from related tables (e.g., InsightsClean) to the Events table without enabling bi-directional relationships. Example: Calculate Article Views by linking ArticleURL in InsightsClean with Page URL in Events.

Filter with Bridge Table: Use DAX to simulate filtering based on CleanedBios via the KeyContactsExploded bridge table. Example: Filter Articles based on AttorneyNameClean in CleanedBios.

Optimize Article Visits Count: Calculate the Total Article Visits by filtering Events for page type "Insight" using TREATAS to respect article-level slicers.

Article Views :=
CALCULATE(
DISTINCTCOUNT(Events[Session ID]),
TREATAS(
VALUES(InsightsClean[ArticleURL]),
Events[Page URL]
)
)

Filtered Articles :=
CALCULATETABLE(
VALUES(InsightsClean[ArticleURL]),
TREATAS(
VALUES(CleanedBios[AttorneyNameClean]),
KeyContactsExploded[AttorneyID]
)
)

Total Article Visits :=
CALCULATE(
DISTINCTCOUNT(Events[Session ID]),
Events[Page Type] = "Insight"
)

Total Article Visits :=
CALCULATE(
DISTINCTCOUNT(Events[Session ID]),
TREATAS(
VALUES(InsightsClean[ArticleURL]),
Events[Page URL]
)
)

If you find this response helpful, please consider marking it as the accepted solution and giving it a thumbs-up to support others in the community.

but I need to be able to filter in both directions

What's the business scenario for that?

Note: You may like the dark theme but it makes the data model all but unreadable.
