Cumulative Sum (of calculated measure result)

Hi Power BI Community,

I am struggling with trying to calculate the running sum (of a measure), which is based on count.

What I have achieved so far is not wrong, but not what I am after. I am not after a pure running total, but a monthly year-to-date summing of a percentage result (summing a result only).

I can illustrate it better with this spreadsheet:

I am trying to make a calculation to give me the figures highlighted in green, however my calculation gives me the pink, and I am not sure which part of the calculation to change so that I may get the figures that are green. (How do I calculate a sum of a measure? It gives me an error saying I can only do this with columns..)

The green figures (which I want to calculate) are a cumulative monthly sum of the % staff leaving monthly.
The pink figures = cumulative left by end of month / cumulative start of month. (Not what I want)

My attempt so far looks like this:

Any advice is very appreciated.

Hi @KeepCalm007,

You could create the measure below to cumulative monthly sum of the figures in grey.

Measure =
VAR currentMonth =
    MAX ( 'Terminated and Total'[Month] )
RETURN
    SUMX (
        FILTER (
            SUMMARIZE (
                ALL ( 'Terminated and Total' ),
                'Terminated and Total'[Month],
                "leaving", [Turnover]
            ),
            [Month] <= currentMonth
        ),
        [leaving]
    )

Then you will get the result below.

In addition, you could refer to this pbix file.

Best regards,

Cherry

Hi Cherry @v-piga-msft,

Thanks for your help. Unfortunately the measure isn't showing the correct numbers. Smiley Sad Perhaps my wording was confusing, so I apologise. Currently my graph already shows row D and row F (see picture below), but I want to show row E (the bright green), which so far I have been unable to achieve.
