Creating calendar table with custom financial periods

So, I'm importing a calendar table that looks like this:

Post image

My company's financial periods are defined with a start and end date in their own respective columns. I would like to create my own calendar table from this information that dynamically updates with the nightly import. I'm just not sure how to go about breaking this format down to the day level.

How would I get a date column (mm/dd/yyyy) with a second column for the corresponding financial period for that day/date (Period 1, Period 2, etc..), then rolling the periods (months) into quarters?

Also, what are considered 'best practices' when setting up a calendar table?

Thanks!

Hi @jguy

It seems you may import the calendar table. Then link the date column with the fact table.

Right. I'm importing the calendar table and linking with the fact table, but notice the way the dates are. I need to find a way to go from a single entry with a start and end date column to a column with every date in between the other two with a corresponding financial period.
