Creating a Y-Axis Constant Line in a Bar & Line Chart

Hello everyone, nice to meet you.

I am new to Power BI, and I am currently in need of your assistance for a problem that I want to solve.

Here is a picture of a chart that I have made in Power BI. This line chart depicts the effective tax rate per year, calculated by dividing income tax with the net profit before tax (information visualised with bar charts).

I want to add a constant Y-Axis line in this chart to show the applicable tax rate based on the prevailing regulation. However, when I checked in the Analytics menu, there is no option to create one.

Really appreciate if anyone has a solution for this.

Thank you!

Bona

Hi @Anonymous ,

I'm afraid this couldn't be achieved because the value of constant line is determined by constant value. For the visual like Line and clustered column chart,It is not possible to add a constant Y-Axis line.

On the other hand, I think that add a constant Y-Axis line to show the applicable tax rate based on the prevailing regulation in such a visual does not seem to make much sense. Consider other visual objects to meet your requirements.

Henry

Hello Ashish,

Thank you for the response.

I noticed that you used a measure there. Is it possible to make the Y-Axis constant line based on a user input value? For example I want to set the constant line at 22% or 25% like that.

Regards,

Bona

You are welcome.  You can create a single column disconnected table.  Create a slicer and selected any percentage value there.  Use the SELECTEDVALUE(0 function to harvest the percentage value selected in the slicer.  Drag that measure to the visual.

Can you show me the screenshot of the formula?

I am new to Power BI and I don't know how it works.
