Hello, I am new to Power BI Desktop and need some assistance.
Currently, I have one excel file uploaded and have created a visual (table) from that excel file. What I am now looking to do is import a new excel file (same type but different entries in some cols) so that I can create a graph of the combined col. values of the old and new excel files while also creating the a table of just the new (uncombined) excel file.
Basically, my question is, how do you make visuals/tables that come from multiple excel files on the same report? If I merge the queries (which adds the col values?), doesn't that change the original data set?
My overall goal is to have a sort of tracker, where every week or so I can upload a new excel file into a template, see a visual of that new data and then also see a visual of the "running" combined data from older data sets. Is there a way to do this using Power BI?
Thanks!

Yes to your workflow. Visual filters are one Visual (Chart) only. This is likey where you will choose the dates seperatly for the two visuals. Page Filters limit ALL visuals on the entire page (bottom Tabs). Report filters filter all pages.

Hello,
if you can incdule the date column with each table, you can Apend them inside of query Editor .

I have to agree with the date column direction. Having this unique identifer by file to filter the visuals by date, will allow you to have them side by side with different date filters. FOrrest

Oh got it thanks! And what is the difference between adding a date filter on the original graph, on the page-level, or on the report-level?
So basically, the workflow is -- each week, I upload a new data set, append it to the original one, and then filter the date depending on what I want to see?

How do I make it so that I can upload new files and have it so that it creates the same graphs? When I am creating a template, it is uploading the original files upon opening?
