Count Trend over Date Range

I'm sure this has been discussed somewhere before, and I've looked around before posting.  However, I'm super new to creating queries with excel.  Here's my issue.

I have a table.  The table shows by row:

1. an open time in this format 11/3/2016 7:23:49 AM in a single cell.

2. A status in a different cell in the same row as 'Open', 'Closed', etc.

What I'm trying to do is create an area chart that shows how many were open / closed etc. by day.

I can get a total of the individual statuses, but to try to break them out in an area chart is always an epic fail.

I'm assuming this is primarily because the row does not have a count per se of the status per day.

IF you want to get a trend by date, then you may want to change the date/time format to just a date format in the Modeling ribbon .  In the area report, the date will be your Axis for the chart and the status will be your value/legend.

Solved it with some help from folks.

It was the way in which I was adding the data and where.

I knew it was super easy.
