Copy Visual Settings

Hi there,

Did anyone ever ask if it is possible to copy visual Format Settings?  I was wondering because I had a report with several Pages but the users were not so happy with the layout of certain visuals.  So I improved the visuals but I had to do this on each page over and over again.  So I wondered if, for the same type of visual of course, it would be possible to copy the format settings and apply them to other visuals on other pages.

Thanks for you feedback.

  • Hi Daro68 - Yes, this is a common challenge , There isn’t a direct way to bulk copy visual format settings across multiple visuals/pages in pbi.

Copy/Paste visual: Duplicate the already formatted visual and just replace the fields. This ensures full consistency and saves time.

Note: Efficient method is to copy the formatted visual and reuse it. instead of manual reformatting things.

    Hope this answer helps.

  • Daro68 You can use the Format Painter option.

Click on your perfected visual, Format Painter will get enabled -> Click on it -> Then apply the brush on the other target visual

  • You could you the following option provided in default UI of Power BI called "Format painter".

  • I am swearing my guts out now!  I am so embarrassed. For 7 years I've been using Power Bi and never it has occured to me that it would be that simple.  Especially that I use this all the time in Excel...  I think I'm leaving the office for today 😄
