Continuous updating Data Model online

Hello,

I was wondering whether the following is possible using microsoft power BI:

Multiple Excel Tables on different computers across the world with the same columns format (let's say country and some KPIs), which are integrated in one data model which is stored online. If new data (a new row) is added to an individual Excel Table, this is automatically updated in the online data model, which means all connected computers have a real-time overview of up-to-date data.

Does Microsoft Power BI offer possibilities to create the system described above, and if so, would anyone have any suggestions on how to create it?

Kind Regards, Rik

Hi,

Writeback to Tabluar with both Import mode and Direct query is fully supported with Visual Planning from Power ON. There is a great video here to get you started. http://poweronbi.com/powerbi-visual-planning/

You can also load data from Power BI to SQL with their solutions: http://poweronbi.com/2017/06/power-update-from-power-bi-desktop-to-sql-server

Power ON also has a Table Editor that lets you edit SQL Tables in Power BI Service directly. http://poweronbi.com/visual-table-editor/

Contact info is feedback@poweronbi.com

Visual Planner turns Power BI into a fully fledged Goal Seek and Planning, Budgeting and Forecasting solution. You can Goal Seek your DAX calculations.

@Rikkert

Power BI is a reporting tool for rendering data. After you publish the report, any changes made in data source can be updated to the report on Power BI Service. In this scenario, I'm not sure if your Excel tables are data source feeding the online data model, or a reporting tool for rendering data from the online data model. I think what you are looking for should be something like Azure Analysis Services. To update data from on-premise to cloud, you can try writeback operation.
