Hi,
I am currently creating one dataset that I want to use as the base-model for all my future reports with the "Live Connection to Data Service".
But it's difficult to create a report when you have to re-upload the file with all data after each change to the model.
Is it possible to connect the report to a local PBIX file? My understanding is that each open PBIX file is essentially a locally run SSAS server.
What I'd like to achieve is to...
Is such a workflow possible? I did quite a bit of googling and it seems this is not supported by default, but maybe there is a hacky way?
Perhaps it could be achieve with these ways:
But what are the settings to connect to a local PBI report? DAX Studio seems to be able to do it.
Awesome, thanks Frank. I am glad this method is working.
But I was asking if it is possible to connect to a PBI document locally without uploading it to the Power Bi Service. Similar to how DAX Studio can connect to a PBI document.
I'm looking for the answer to the same question
Hi @Kimcha,
Here I made a test, I has two pbix files here, one for model-pbix and one for report-pbix. Please refer to the following steps.
1. Publish the model pbix to service.
2. Change connection of the report pbix following the guide in the document. Then the connection of the report will be updated to connection of model dataset in Power BI Service .
3. My test result is as below.
Regards,
Frank
