Conditional Formatting does not work on matrix subtotals

I am using the subtotal feature in matrix, but the conditional formatting does not apply for the subtotal. Do you know any ways I could have the conditional formatting applied for the subtotals? I have a matrix with project and project category(either capital or operating) on rows
