This is either a bug or serves some purpose that I'd like to understand.
Go apply conditional formatting to a matrix table. In Minimum or Maximum try to enter a letter A-Z instead of a number.
None work...except the letter E.
Anyone know why?

Sounds like letter E is a bug. It is not supposed to work on letters. It you can create custom formulas now, so that may work.

Stumbled on this while trying to trick PBI into formatting a column of letter grades (A, B, and C). Felt like I was almost there, but hit a dead end.
Looks like you can get it to enable the conditional formatting options on text values by combining the measure with its numeric value via SWITCH() and then creating a toggle table for the SWITCH().
Beyond that though, no luck.
