Composite model Direct query columns cannot be summarized

Hi!

We have a composite Power BI model which is mainly built by direct query Microsoft SQL data tables.

Previously everything has worked fine, but suddenly now aggregating columns is not working. So even if a value can be summarized and is already summarized in a report in Power BI service (for example a column is sum/average in a report), now it cannot be changed and cannot be added again as a value.

Below is a snapshot of what i looks like now:

Any ideas why it's not working anymore and how it can be fixed?

Thanks!

Hi @TE

You will need to use Tabular Editor and set Discourage Implicit Measures to false.

Thanks! I didn't actually need Tabular Editor and was able to make the change in Power BI desktop after I deleted the calculation group.

Thanks for the quick response @danextian ! We have a couple of users modifing this report. It does look like my colleague has created a calculation group by mistake. I'm not that familiar with calculation groups, is there a way to turn delete these and turn on implicit measures?

Hi @TE

Did you by chance create a calculation group? Doing so discouranges implicit measures.
