Commenting without using comments function or a seperate table

Hi everyone,

I have been searching the forum wihtout finding a solution related to the comments.

I am working from the headquarter and monitoring the performance from several different stores. I can create a table/measures that contains the numbers etc. but the numbers does not explain the drivers, for that I would need the respective store manager to write comments live in the report. I have provided a simple example below of what I wish to achieve:

Comment_Example.png

In addition, this comment needs to be specific to: 1) the visual 2) the month and 3) the store for which the manager is reporting and can be filtered through slicer selections. I need this textbox/comment box to be available on the actual sheet and close to the visual. So, without using the comments function available in PowerBI or a seperate table/datasource as users should be able to use this report "live". In other words, the comments will be a manual input that is stored in the report. Is it possible?

Thank you!

Hi @Newbie_1

Could you check if "Tooltip"/"Report tooltips" helps you?

You could add a comment to a report/dashboard, but it is not filterd by slicers.

@Newbie_1,

it is not possible to store a typed-in comment in Power BI. You can store the comments in an Excel or flat file and read them into Power BI.
