Hi
A question about combining two existing datasets in a composite model.
Let me clarify the issue with a simplified example.
We have a datawarehouse with multiple fact tables and one central product table.
What if I have dataset 1 with fact table 1 (for instance Sales) and product table, and dataset 2 with fact table 2 (for instance Receipts) and the same product table?
Each dataset is developed and used for a separate user group.
But there is also a specific user group that has to have an insight in the combination of the datasets. Fact table rows have to be combined in the same visuals.
So if I combine the datasets for this specific user group in one composite model?
Can I then delete the product table from dataset 1 and connect it to the one from dataset 2? Since they are completeley the same. Or do I then get problems, for instance when refreshing? What is the best way of handling these shared dimensions like product, of which I know they are exactly the same?
Regards Ron
Hi @PowerRon ,
You can refer to the official documents to give suggestions on composite models, and hope to help you.

I would have one model with shared product dimension - this is how a dimensional model is supposed to work. I don't foresee any issues with refresh, but you can build a simple model, publish it and test it out quickly.
The main thing you need to consider in your DW is to refresh your dimensions first, otherwise, you may have fact records without a corresponding dimension record which impacts your reports and dashboards.
