Combination of stacked column and stacked line/area chart

Hello guys,

my supervisor is asking me to replace a chart that is currently hosted in excel with a power bi visual:

They use a combination chart of stacked columns and stacked lines to compare planned and actual values for our departments (WLP = planned, ADWx = departments).

When trying to visualize something similar in Power BI i run into various issues as there is no default visual to support this chart. When I am using the line and stacked column chart, I do get multiple lines but they are not stacked:

For the lines I had to create a measure that would return the actuals filtered to the respective team (e.g. ADWA, ADWB etc.). As you can see that is causing a lot of manual effort that I would like to prevent. If I could now also stack these lines, it would bring me a lot closer to where I need to be with my visual.

So my question to you is: Is there a visual that fulfills my needs or can I modify the currently used visual in a way that would bring me closer to my boss's current excel solution?

Thanks in advance and kind regards

Marcel

@marcel97  Thanks for sharing your query.

The chart in the excel is a combination of Stacked Column and Area chart. However, in Power BI we don't have that visual also there is none in the App Source. In Power BI we have separate visual for those two.

So, I believe what you have created with the Line and Stacked Column chart is the way to go.

Good luck ! 👍
