Choose the variable to analyse in a hierarchical scheme

I would like to ask you, very kindly, if you know if there is any way to set an option so that the user can choose between two variables, the one he wants to analyze in a hierarchical scheme. For example that the user can chooses between the variables "floors" and "area", explained in terms of other variables.
