Chart type to use to display aggregated totals by date (yyyymm)

Hi All,

I have a data set of multiple sales opportunities, with one row per month (between start and end dates), and a monthly hours for each month.

I've used a matrix chart to show the data in tabular format, showing all the opportunities.

However, i want to show the monthly totals in a line/area/?? chart so it is nicer visually

Here is what the matrix chart looks like:

And basically i want to chart the highlighted totals by date (at the top). Then i will use slicers so they can filter the data set based on their business unit. This is providing a forecast of monthly hours.

Any advice on what chart i should be using and how to set it up?

Data set might look like:

opportunity     date     monthly hours

abc                  Mar, 2017     10

abc                  Apr, 2017      10

xyz                  Jan, 2018        500

Many thanks in advance..!

HI @dnaman,

Current line/area charts not contains subtotal feature to show monthly total.

In my opinion, I'd like to suggest you to write a measure to calculate monthly total and add to value field of chart to display total value.

BTW, current chart not support use multiple values and legend at same time.
