Change db connection on a desktop report

Good morning,

I have a report made with powerBI desktop that uses direct query on a sql server db. It works perfectly. Now i have to upload the report on a different workspace and i need to change the origin of data (the server, in my case). The new database on the other server is identical to mine so i know that the query will work there too.

If i switch the server, obviously the report cannot connect to the db but it won't save the changes! It always ask me to apply but it fails and i cannot save this new settings.

How i can change the origin without touching the query or the output, just telling PowerBI not to update data?

Thanks but i already done that. The problem is that i don't have access locally to the server!

I want to upload the report on a customer's workspace where i have the access but obviously, if i upload with my data source, the data set is not able to associate the correct data origin.

How is it possible that with Report builder i can set the new origin without the need to update data and the desktop doesn't allow to do that?

Please, can anyone help me? I don't know even how to create from zero a desktop report on a workspace where i am guest....

Hi @Gaia81 ,

You can change data source in Data source setting.

Please make sure you have access to that Server.
