If you are stuck on how to import your data into a Power BI template, I recommend that you use the export feature on the VisionLink platform to export your data to a format supported by Power BI (CSV, Excel, etc.), and then import the exported data into a Power BI template, as Power BI does not currently support data importing directly from the Caterpillar VisionLink.
If you need to import new data without overwriting the original data each time you import new data, you should create an intermediate data store to merge the new data with the old data and configure the report's semantic model refresh, which you can do using scheduled refresh or through Power Automate.

Any suggestions on the best way to structure or populate the intermediate data store? Are you meaning something like an XLS file and just cut and paste the updated information into the file?

You can copy new data to the intermediate database manually, or you can set up a flow (if Power Automate has a connector for your intermediate database) to copy new data to the intermediate database. For example, when you export new data as a new file to a folder monitored by the flow, the flow is triggered and copies the data in the file to the intermediate database.
