Cascading Slicers
Hello, so there's a report we built, it has 4 slicers all from the same table, and the main visual is a paginated report embedded into power bi desktop. Now the thing is, slicer 1 (main/parent) is a single select slicer and rest of them are multi select. And when 'A' is selected in parent slicer, all the other slicers show data related to 'A' (cascading, which is fine) and the users select stuff from those slicers, all is good. But when they go and select 'B' in the parent slicer, the other slicers don't automatically reset to 'B' data, they are still in the selected state from 'A'. Is there any way to make slicers automatically reset based on parent slicer selection. We have suggested reset filters, clearing individual slicer selections before making and new selection in parent slicer but they don't want to do that. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

This is expected behavior in Power BI. While cascading slicers dynamically filter the available values in downstream slicers, they do not automatically clear existing selections when the parent slicer changes.
For example, if users make selections under Parent = 'A' and then switch the parent slicer to 'B', the child slicers will retain their previous selections until they are manually cleared or reset.
Some potential workarounds include:- Using a Reset Filters button with bookmarks.
- Configuring Single Select where appropriate.
- Reviewing the report design to simplify the filtering experience.
At present, Power BI does not provide a native capability to automatically reset child slicers based on changes in a parent slicer selection.
