Cannot load model from sql endpoint from fabric
I have experienced this issue the last days.
context.
I am currently with a free trial for microsoft fabric. I have imported data into a sql database (preview) built 100% into fabric. However, when I want to import the view or any table into microsoft power bi desktop, I have an issue
Does anybody have any idea on how to solve it?
Hi Ruben-C1 ,
Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Fabric Community.
There are some limitations for the free account that might be causing the issue. Please find the limitations in the below documentation.

Hi Ruben-C1 ,
This kind of issue usually happens when:
- The SQL endpoint isn’t enabled or accessible for your workspace.
- You’re missing permissions (you need at least Build access on the dataset).
- The workspace isn’t assigned to a capacity that supports SQL endpoints (like Fabric or Premium).
Double-check that the SQL endpoint is turned on in the workspace settings, and that you're using the correct connection string (you can find it in the dataset settings under “Workspace SQL endpoint”).
Also, make sure you're connecting using a supported tool (like SSMS or Azure Data Studio) and that your credentials are correct.
Let me know what tool you're using and the exact error message if it’s still not working — happy to help more!

I think this might be the issue. I have tried everything in order to connect it to power bi desktop. It is a shame that trial doesnt let you "Try". I believe Azure for sql is just a more transparent service.
Thanks for your advice and help
