Can we create Sections/subsection in App without creating multiple pbix file?

Hi,

I realized that each pbix file will appear as a section in app .

However, if it possible to sections my reports in apps if I have 20 reports tabs in a single pbix file?

Or will this be a future feature list?

Thanks & looking forward to your kind advise.

Best regards, Val

Hi @valWork

I'm not sure if it is, but you can check here.

If I understand correctly, you don't want to show all tabs in the App to each App User? Have you considered separating out the tabs into different reports? This way you can define who can view each tab, using the Audience feature within Apps. Here is how I would approach it.

  • Remove the current report from the app only, don't delete from the service.
  • Decide which on which tabs and who can see them.
  • Open a new PBIX file and connect to the existing Report. Ribbon > Home > OneLake data hub > Power BI semantic models
  • Open the Original Report's PBIX file
  • Copy and paste the Tabs (CTRL A in Original Report tab, then in the new file CTRL V) that you want in each new report.
  • Repeat this for each Tab groups you want to have.
  • Publish all the new reports into the current workspace
  • Add all the new reports as Content in the App
  • Then create your Audiences and assign the reports each should see.

Hope this helps

Joe

Hi @Joe_Barry ,

I have many tabs in my pbix, thus, when I published it... all the tabs are in the a single section per pbix file. I wonder if there is a way to insert a section/separate my report in more structure way.

Thanks, Val
