I have a situation where I want to dynamically allow a user to toggle between showing report tooltips and not showing them.
I realize I can do it with bookmarks....however, my concern about bookmarks is that (unless I'm missing something) I have to duplicate any of the visualizations. That's a real maintenance headache.
Plus, there's always a chance I might want two distinct scenarios on a page where I'd need 2 sets of bookmarks.....again, maybe there's a feature I haven't seen, but it seems like I'd have to have 2 * 2 copies of each visual.
Is there any way to allow tooltip display based on a runtime formula expression? Here is where my native SSRS background comes in - you had formula capabilities to toggle many things. I realize PBI is a different tool, but I wish I could find a way that doesn't involve multiplying the # of visuals to achive it.
Thanks,
Kevin

In my opinion, you cannot turn on/off the report page tooltip but you can switch between different tooltips with the following technique that I demonstrated in a video of mine.

Sorry but not possible.. maybe you can try to do something with custom tooltip and RLS
Thanks, I actually tried to look at that, but I'm going to run into the same issue....even if it's a blank tooltip page that pops up, there are instances where a person is navigating around with a mouse and getting the "fast-flicker" of tooltip pages. Sometimes they provide fantastic context, but sometimes they are distracting.
Again, I know I can use bookmarks for this, but I'm already considering bookmarks for another context on the same page. I don't know how to accomplish this without basically having multiple copies of the same visualization on the same page. I'm not trying to be harsh on Microsoft, but any solution that begins with "copy/paste" is going to be a maintenance headache long-term. But regardless, thanks to both of you for your replies.
