Calculated table update

Hello All

Since last week I've an issue when I try to refresh my Power BI. 

All of the tables are from an SQL server  and I copy past them to built many calculated columns (DAX), It's works since 3 months but now when I try to update my report the SQL table are updated but not the calculated tables. (differents values for the same line ID) 

Do you know how to correct that ? Is there a parameter to check or uncheck ? 

The update work with the July power version but not with the September one.

Thanks a lot for sharing the update, I understand how frustrating this must be. You’re right, this issue seems to have started after the September Power BI Desktop update, and a few other users have reported the same problem with calculated tables not refreshing correctly.

Here are a few things you can try for now:

Full refresh: Go to Home > Refresh > Refresh all instead of just “Refresh.”

Clear cache: Try File > Options and settings > Data Load > Clear cache, then restart Power BI Desktop.

Check the DAX: Open the calculated table DAX, make a small change (like adding a space), and save this forces a refresh.

Older version (temporary fix): If possible, use the July version (2.145.1105.0) until this bug is fixed in a later update.

Please update if you find a solution.  I have a user seeing a similar issue.  In our case, the calculated tables are built on tables in another semantic model.  There isn't a "Refresh" option on the right-click context menu for that calculated table, and the "Refresh" options in the main ribbon don't reliably update the table.  The work-around seems to be to edit the DAX for the calculated table to force a refresh.

This definitely seems to be related to the September release.

I provided a step by step Solution you can review it 😅

In Your Case it can be :

• Calculated tables built on other semantic models are not refreshing properly

• Ribbon refresh is unreliable

• September update is the common factor

So Verify DAX:

• Open calculated table DAX

• Make minor change (add space or comment)

• Save and forces refresh

Clear Cache:

• File → Options → Data Load → Clear Cache

• Restart Power BI

Rollback to July Version:

• You can Find The old Versions here Power BI Old Versions Archive (2.145.1105.0 version)

• Use until September bug is fixed

Could you please provide an official Microsoft source for prior versions of Power BI Desktop? 

This is still an issue for our users.  Manually editing the DAX for the calculated table is a work-around, not a solution.  It's tedious and risks introducing error if it has to be done for each refresh.   When clicking "Refresh" in the ribbon, the calculated tables don't even appear in the dialog box showing the progress of the refresh.  I've even tried adding a calculated column with the current datetime -- this column updates, but the rest of the data does not, and the timestamp on the hover-over metadata does not update.

I'm not sure if even reverting to a previous version of desktop will address the problem -- it's often not possible to open files in an older version once they've been saved in a new version.

Ok lets dive into your question...At First your issue can occur after Power Bi updates!

• The problem is that your calculated tables are not refreshing properly after the SQL data updates.

So try this solutions:

First Solution: Power BI Version

• My first suggestion is going to check you PowerBi Compatibility.
• If the report is very important (Download an old version of Power bi Desktop and try the July version its likely 2.145.1105.0)

Second Solution: Full Refresh

• Go to Home > Refresh > Refresh (not Refresh all)

• If you find any issue when refreshing...Remove any permissions (Transform data > Data source settings > Clear Permissions)
• Also you can try Clearing cache (Options and settings > Data Load > Clear Cache)

Third Solution: Review Calculated Table

• Check if any SQL table schema changes affected your DAX formulas
• Verify relationships between imported and calculated tables

Fourth Solution: Check DAX Formula

• Verify DAX formulas still work with current data structure
