I'll open with i'm very new to Power BI and am amazed at the amount of information available but I find myself getting beat up by the simple things.
I have a report feeding from an Excel file. One of the visualizations is a summary by product line with an average cost per line.
Now I need to multiply those 2 columns and cannot figure out how to accomplish what I image to be a very simple act.
My columns for the table are:
Line
# Units (which is counting distince values)
Avg Standard cost
I did a mock up in Excel just to have a visual for this question.

Wish i could upload the document LOL...but here's a screen shot of my steps and what's happening. The "math" would have to be done after the filtering i would think. I did try both suggestions and results are in the included image
use this
sumx( tbl_name , tbl_name[items] * tbl_name[avg cost] )
let me know if this helps .
If my answer helped sort things out for you, i would appreciate a thumbs up 👍 and mark it as the solution ✅
It makes a difference and might help someone else too. Thanks for spreading the good vibes! 🙏
Hi @MikeGA
You can create a new Calculated Column in PBI with this code
Total = [Items] * [Avg Cost]
